Hundreds of individuals protested for a second evening in central Paris after President Emmanuel Macron determined to power via modifications to the retirement age with no vote in parliament.

Some demonstrators clashed with riot police, who made a number of arrests.

The reform raises France’s state pension age by two years to 64, which Mr Macron argues is critical to maintain the French pension system viable. The change is bitterly opposed by unions.
