A neighborhood Trinamool Congress chief died in a hospital, hours after being shot at by unidentified miscreants whereas returning house in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, police stated on Wednesday.

The deceased, Altaf Sheikh, who was the headmaster of Nowadapara Madrasa, succumbed to accidents on the hospital right here within the morning, they stated.

He was shot from a detailed vary at Raninagar space round 9.15 pm on Tuesday.

“We have now initiated an investigation and search is underway to nab the culprits,” a senior police officer of the district advised PTI over cellphone.

Sheikh was a CPI(M) chief earlier than he joined the TMC.
