Sydney hit with 20,000 lightning strikes in a single day
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a extreme thunderstorm warning on Tuesday night time as heavy rainfall and damaging winds affected giant chunks of Better Sydney.
Weatherzone meteorologist James Rout stated about 20,000 lightning strikes have been recorded inside 20 kilometres of Camden Airport in Sydney’s south-west from 8pm on Tuesday.
“[Camden Airport] additionally recorded 20 millimetres of rain within the ten minutes to eight.30pm, which may be very intense, quick rain,” he stated.
Inside 20km of the Sydney metropolitan space, about 2600 lightning strikes have been recorded between 9pm and 11pm.
The NSW SES warned Sydneysiders to take additional warning on the roads on Wednesday as crews proceed to restore injury throughout town.
Blacktown and Penrith have been the busiest areas with 70 incidents in complete in a single day into Wednesday, the NSW SES stated.
